MOSCOW. Aug 27 (Interfax) - The United States is unwilling to work toward the implementation of the Minsk Agreements by Ukraine, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said on Monday.
"The U.S. is not ready to work honestly and consistently toward the full implementation of the Minsk Package of Measures," Ryabkov said on Rossiya 1 (VGTRK).
The U.S. should begin exerting pressure on Kyiv to achieve a peaceful settlement in Donbas, he said.
"To do this, one needs to put more pressure on Kyiv and should not encourage the sentiment of revenge and everything that's 'floating' on all the channels from Kyiv and is heard from every loudspeaker on Khreschatyk," Ryabkov said.
"We don't accept this. Condoning such sentiments only diminishes the chances of achieving an agreement. The U.S. should refocus on putting pressure on the authorities in Kyiv. It's a big question whether that will happen," he said.
Moscow is seeing "an expansion of U.S. efforts to recharge Kyiv, particularly with lethal weapons," he said.
"I hear there are some plans to expand training activity - in other words, military exercises in the direct vicinity of our frontiers. This is a recipe for destabilization. The Americans are playing with fire," Ryabkov said.
