Moscow will make U.S. respect Russia - Ryabkov

MOSCOW. Aug 27 (Interfax) - Washington is enslaved to the illusion that Russia can be broken, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said.

"People are living enslaved to their own ideas, enslaved to illusions that Russia can somehow be broken, rolled into a ram's horn, made to forsake its principled approaches based on unconditional, absolute respect for international law, on mutual balance and consideration of each other's interests. There is simply no other way in the modern world," Ryabkov said on Rossiya 1 (VGTRK).

Moscow will make Washington respect Russia, he said.

"But the arrogance of power, the absolute belief in their own exceptionalism, that the U.S. is a stand-alone, superior community of God-blessed people, structures, politicians, whatever - this is absolutely dominant right now. But we will prove it wrong in word and in deed. Eventually we will make them respect us and take our opinion into account," Ryabkov said.
