Radiological, chemical and biological defense troops begin exercise in Eastern Military District

BLAGOVESHCHENSK. Sept 3 (Interfax) - Units and formations from the Radiological, Chemical and Biological Defense Troops of the Eastern Military District were put on mock alert as part of a large-scale special exercise.

"Troops started marching in army-issued vehicles to the designated areas; on the way, they practiced monitoring the Radiological, Chemical and Biological situation, repulsing 'sabotage' attacks, and overcoming mock enemy obstacles," the District said in a statement.

The over 2,000-strong exercise will take part in seven locations across East Siberia and the Far East.

The maneuvers involve the ARS-14KM decontamination station, engine smoke generators, the advanced communications vehicle KShM R-145BM1, and other up-to-date military hardware. In all, around 500 pieces of hardware, including TOS-1A flame throwing systems.
