TASHKENT. Sept 5 (Interfax) - Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi have agreed on joint steps for the Afghan settlement at talks in Tashkent; the two countries' foreign ministries will hold consultations on Afghanistan, the press service for the Uzbek leader said on Wednesday.
"The parties reached an agreement to join efforts on the path of establishment of lasting peace and stability in Afghanistan and hold relevant political consultations between the foreign ministries," the press service said following talks between the Uzbek and Egyptian presidents.
In addition, Mirziyoyev and his Egyptian counterpart discussed the situation in the region and the world, focused on strengthening of regional security, countering international terrorism and religious extremism, the press service said.
"The decision to initiate the exchange of experience, establish ties between agencies, and create a joint working group on this track was made," it said.
The Egyptian president is on a two-day visit to Uzbekistan.
