Almost 1,000 refugees return to Syria from Lebanon in past 24 hours

MOSCOW. Sept 6 (Interfax) - As many as 960 refugees, including 288 women and 490 children, have returned to Syria from Lebanon via the Jaydet-Yabus and Talkalakh checkpoints in the past 24 hours, the Center for the Reception, Allocation, and Accommodation of Refugees said on Thursday.

A total of 11,572 Syrian refugees have returned from abroad since July 18, 2018, including 11,254 from Lebanon, the Center said.

Almost 7 million registered Syrian refugees are staying in 45 countries, it said.

"Five hundred and seven Syrians have returned home over the day, including 44 people (15 women and 24 children) to Eastern Ghouta in the Rif Damascus province," the center said.
