Massive airstrikes, measures against cruise missiles to be practiced during Vostok 2018 - General Staff

MOSCOW. Sept 6 (Interfax) - Massive airstrikes, measures against cruise missiles, defensive and offensive operations, raids, and bypass maneuvers will be practiced during the Vostok 2018 exercise, Russian General Staff Chief Gen. Valery Gerasimov said on Thursday.

"There are plans to practice massive airstrikes, measures against cruise missiles, defensive and offensive operations, raids, and bypass maneuvers. Training missions, which are due in the Sea of Okhotsk and northwestern parts of the Pacific, will deter air attacks and inflict damage on groups of ships and landing forces," Gerasimov said.

"Aircraft will practice support to an offensive mounted by ground forces and beach defense. Planes and helicopters will practice bombings and use of air-launched missiles," he said.
