Ten Terminator tank support vehicles to be delivered to Russia's Central Military District before end of 2018

YEKATERINBURG. Sept 6 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia will hold first exercises involving the Terminator tank support fighting vehicles in the Chelyabinsk region in 2019, Col. Andrei Teryukhov, the chief of the armored vehicles service of Russia's Central Military District, told journalists on Thursday.

"The Central Military District will receive ten Terminator tank support fighting vehicles before the end of the year. The new vehicles will undergo operational service tests based on a tank division stationed in the Urals. A number of exercises as part of the trials are planned in 2019," Teryukhov said.

The choice of the site where the operational service tests are to be held, i.e. the Urals Tank Division, has been prompted by its proximity to the Uralvagonzavod company manufacturing the Terminators, he said.

The Terminator is a multirole highly protected wheeled fire-support combat vehicle featuring powerful weapons, advanced fire control devices, and high maneuverability. It is designed to suppress and destroy enemy fighters, including those in covers, posing a threat to tanks. It is capable of damaging lightly armored targets, tanks, and infantry combat vehicles and combating helicopters and low-flying slow planes of the enemy together with army air defense forces.

The Terminator for the Russian Armed Forces is based on the units and elements used in manufacturing the T-90A main battle tank.
