BISHKEK. Sept 6 (Interfax) - Sino-Kyrgyz relations are at a high level and Bishkek is determined to strengthen cooperation with Beijing in the interests of the two countries and regional security, Chief of the General Staff of the Kyrgyz Armed Forces Raiimberdi Duyishenbiyev said at a Thursday meeting with Vice Chairman of the Chinese Central Military Commission Xu Qiliang.
"The standard of Kyrgyz-Chinese relations has always been high. We will strengthen ties of neighborliness, friendship and cooperation for the benefit of the peoples of our countries and security in the region and the world as a whole," Duyishenbiyev said at the talks in Bishkek.
He said that the cooperation between the two countries is actively developing on both the bilateral format and in the framework of the SCO.
"In the years of cooperation China has rendered assitance to the Armed Forces of Kyrgyzstan in the form of armaments, military and special vehicles, technical property, means of communications and air defense and the construction of housing," Duyishenbiyev said.
Xu Qiliang arrived in Kyrgyzstan for a visit on Thursday. He intends to discuss issues of deepening bilateral military and technical cooperation in the course of the talks with his Kyrgyz colleagues, the Kyrgyz General Staff reported.
The meeting is expected to be followed by the signing of several documents, including a memorandum of cooperation between the General Staff of the Kyrgyz Armed Forces and the Chinese Defense Ministry, an agreement on China's assitance and a protocol on the delivery of armaments and military hardware.
