Donetsk, Kyiv trade accusations of 'school truce' violations

DONETSK/KYIV. Sept 7 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian army has breached the "school truce" 19 times over the day, a representative of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) in the Joint Center for Control and Coordination (JCCC) told the press on Friday.

"The Ukrainian army breached the truce 19 times over the day. The army attacked the following areas and populated localities: Horlivka (Zaitseve, the Horlivka checkpoint, the compound of the Gagarin Mine, and the Izotov Mine), Yasynuvata, Spartak, Donetsk (the Trudovske neighborhood), Nova Tavria, Zaichenko, Dzerzhinske, Krasnoarmeiske, Leninske, Oktyabr, Sakhanka, and Kominternove," the representative said.

A residential building was damaged in an attack on Horlivka, the representative said, adding he had no information about civilian casualties as of yet.

For its part, Kyiv reported 28 attacks on Ukrainian army positions in Donbas over the day.

"Positions of the Joint Forces came under attack near Krymske, Zolote-4, Mayorske, Yuzhne, Pisky, Krasnohorivka, Mariinka, Chermalyk, Pavlopil, Hnutove, Vodyane, Lybidinske, and Shyrokyne," the press center of the Joint Forces Operation wrote on Facebook on Friday.

"The enemy has launched five attacks on positions of the Joint Forces near Krymske, Hnutove, and Vodyane today. Artillery was fired on the positions near Krymske in gross violation of the 'school truce'," the press service said.

Under an arrangement reached by the Trilateral Contact Group in Minsk, the school truce took effect at midnight on August 29 in connection with the beginning of the school year.
