Arab League no longer relevant after Damascus' exit - Syrian foreign minister

MOSCOW. Sept 7 (Interfax) - Since Syria pulled out of the Arab League the organization has lost its importance, Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Muallem said.

"First of all, forget about the Arab League. It is no longer the Arab League of Arab that was conceived in 1945. Now, because of Syria's withdrawal from the League, its work does not matter anymore," Muallem said in an interview with the Mezhdunarodnaya Zhizn (International Life) magazine.

"Secondly, regarding our relations with Arab countries, I want to say a very important thing: Syria does not interfere in the internal affairs of Arab states. Syria wishes well to all Arab countries and has never been involved in destroying infrastructure in any Arab country. And now I want to say that we welcome relations with the Arab states that are ready to adhere to such a position," Muallem said.
