Attacks of terrorists from Idlib cannot be ignored - Putin (Part 2)

TEHRAN. Sept 7 (Interfax) - Instances of shelling and attacks of terrorists from the area of Idlib cannot be ignored, including those conducted using unmanned aerial vehicles, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.

"A large number of civilians are concentrated in the Idlib [de-escalation] area and, certainly, we must bear that in mind. I have already mentioned that provocations continue there, attacks using unmanned aerial vehicles are carried out and shelling conducted from there, and we cannot ignore this," Putin said at the trilateral summit on the Syrian settlement in Tehran on Friday.

Damascus has a legitimate right to establish control over the entire territory of the country, he said.

"We should consider all aspects of this difficult issue together, resolve this issue together with the understanding that the Syrian legitimate government has the right to and eventually must regain control over the whole territory of the country," the Russian president said.

The mechanisms, which enabled "resolving these issues in the recent past," should be used to that end, he said.

"Those mechanisms should be used to agree on our actions on all these tracks and move along the path of organizing the Constitutional Committee's work," Putin said.
