Two armored ships beef up Ukrainian naval presence near Berdyansk port

KYIV. Sept 11 (Interfax) - The Lubny and Kremenchuk armored ships have been put on duty in the Berdyansk port in Ukraine's Zaporizhzhya district to prevent the illegal stopping of vessels by the "aggressor" country, Ukrainian Deputy Infrastructure Minister Yury Lavrenyuk said.

"For the purpose of heightening the Ukrainian naval presence in the Sea of Azov and preventing the illegal stopping of vessels routed to the Mariupol and Berdyansk commercial seaports by the aggressor country, the first armored ship of the Navy, the Lubny, has been deployed to Berdyansk in the Sea of Azov," Lavrenyuk said on Facebook.

He said later that two armored ships, the Lubny and the Kremenchuk, were on duty in the Berdyansk seaport since Tuesday morning.
