MOSCOW. Sept 14 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia has to have its own production of electronic components for spacecraft and military hardware, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yury Borisov said.
"The market of electronic components of this type [space and military] is stable. Of course, Russia as a nuclear space power has to be able to reproduce all necessary nomenclature," Borisov told reporters.
"The electronic component nomenclature for space projects, for rocket engineering, for the nuclear energy sector is now dominated by Russian electronic components. There is no direct dependence here that would rule out the fulfilment of the plans," he said.
At the same time, he said that "there was an imbalance in the direction of imported, in the first place, U.S. electronic components" ten years ago.
"They really led on the market of space electronics resisting radiation impact. But such work was also done in Russia and in the USSR, we have done serious work," Borisov said.
The U.S. authorities banned the export to Russia of dual-purpose products starting from August 22 as part of the next package of sanctions.
