Most Ukrainians support entry into EU, NATO - poll

KYIV. Sept 14 (Interfax) - Over 58% of polled Ukrainians have supported the country's entry into the European Union, and more than 46% have said they want Ukraine to be a NATO member state, according to the survey conducted by the Kiev International Institute of Sociology, the Razumkov Center, and the Center for Social and Marketing Research (SOCIS).

The sociologists said at a press conference at Interfax on Friday that 58.1% of the respondents would say yes to the entry into the EU at a hypothetical referendum, and 46.3% would vote for in a similar referendum on the entry into NATO.

Some 23.9% of the respondents objected to entering into the EU, and 31.6% said they did not want Ukraine to join NATO.

Face-to-face interviews were held at respondents' homes in all Kyiv-held territories of Ukraine from August 30 till September 9. A total of 10,500 people were polled.
