DONETSK. Sept 17 (Interfax) - The murder of Alexander Zakharchenko, the head of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), was committed by the Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) with assistance from Western security services, acting DPR head Denish Pushilin told reporters.
"Law enforcement authorities have taken a number of measures. There is a clear understanding who did that. The terror attack was committed with participation of the fifth department of the SBU's Counterintelligence Directorate, one man has been detained and he has already provided full plan and testimony," he said.
The DPR State Security Issue has identified in the remainder of the planted explosive device high technologies, which the SBU had not used before, he said.
"It gives understanding that this terror attack was committed with Western security services' assistance," Pushilin said.
"We sought the Russian authorities' comprehensive assistance and help in the investigation. Such help is now being provided," he said.
"Evidence gathered during the investigation of Zakhachenko's murder and testimony of the detained SBU officer prove the involvement of Ukraine and Western security services," Pushilin said on his Telegram channel later.
DPR head Zakharchenko was killed in an explosion in the Separ cafe in Donets on August 31.
