Rosoboronexport to present innovations of Russian defense industry at EDEX in Cairo

MOSCOW. Sept 17 (Interfax) - Rosoboronexport will organize a joint Russian exposition at EDEX, the first international defense exhibition to be held in Cairo, Egypt, on December 3-5, the company said on Monday.

"It was with great pleasure that we accepted the invitation from the Egyptian Defense Ministry to take part in that country's first exhibition of arms and military hardware. For us, this exhibition is an excellent opportunity to display the latest Russian innovations and technology on the territory of our long-time and reliable partner. I am certain the EDEX has wonderful prospects," Rosoboronexport's general director Alexander Mikheyev was quoted in the statement as saying.

The Russian exposition will involve more than ten major enterprises working in areas covered by the exhibition, including ones with particular relevance to the Middle East and North Africa. Exhibitors will include Almaz-Antey, Russian Helicopters, and Uralvagonzavod, Mikheyev said.

Military-technical cooperation with Egypt continues to develop, he said. "We are cooperating across a broad nomenclature of arms and military hardware for all branches of armed services, with new, mutually advantageous projects constantly appearing in our partnership," he said.

"Rosoboronexport actively helps Egypt equip itself with the most advanced high-tech counterterrorism weapons. Russian developments have proven themselves excellently in real combat in the region, both against militants in Syria and in Egypt proper. We can see that the products we supply are regarded as highly reliable by Egyptian military commanders and troops, and we hope that the military-technical cooperation between our countries continues," Mikheyev said.
