Glavcosmos in talks with UK, U.S. satellite makers over cooperation on launch services

MOSCOW. Sept 17 (Interfax-AVN) - The Glavcosmos delegation to Euroconsult's World Satellite Business Week in Paris have discussed potential cooperation with Britain's SSTL and America's Tyvak, Glavcosmos's spokesperson said.

"With SSTL, various options were discussed for cooperation on the provision of launch services. Soyuz rocket launch services were also discussed with the leadership of Tyvak," the spokesperson said.

Also, Glavcosmos and the Italian company SITAEL continued to discuss the use of Russian payloads and accessories for SITAEL-designed satellite platforms.

Glavcosmos representatives also met with the leadership of Euroconsult, the organizer of the conference, to discuss possible areas of cooperation in studying the Russian and international markets for space launch services.

The event included traditional panel sessions on new trends in the use of remote-sensing data, prospects for the market of superlight carrier rockets, and plans to deploy telecommunication satellite groupings with global coverage. A separate discussion focused on the Internet of Things, demand for real-time data transmission, and the reduction of signal-processing and transmission times.

The World Satellite Business Week is an annual gathering of influential representatives from the global satellite communications and remote-sensing industry, satellite equipment makers, and investors.

SSTL is a British satellite maker, and Tyvak is a U.S. maker of satellites and containers. Glavcosmos (part of Roscosmos) runs foreign space projects and operates commercial Soyuz-2 launches from the Vostochny, Baikonur, and Plesetsk Cosmodromes.
