Turkey, Russia to clear Idlib of terrorists together - Erdogan (Part 2)

SOCHI. Sept 17 (Interfax) - Russia and Turkey have agreed to clear the Syrian governorate of Idlib from terrorists together and jointly patrol the demilitarized area that is being created there, Turkish President Recept Tayyip Erdogan said.

"Together with Russia, we will make every possible effort to remove all radical groups from this territory," Erdogan said at a press conference following talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Sochi.

"Turkey and Russia will patrol this territory [the demilitarized area in Idlib] in a coordinated manner," Erdogan said.

The two leaders reached an agreement that "the territory controlled by the Syrian army and the opposition should be demilitarized," he said.

"The opposition will remain in the territories it controls," Erdogan said.
