Everyone agrees N. Korean nuclear program unacceptable - Nebenzya (Part 2)

MOSCOW. Sept 17 (Interfax) - North Korea's nuclear missile program is unacceptable, but it is necessary to guarantee the fulfillment of promises made to Pyongyang, Russian Permanent Representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya said at a UN Security Council meeting in New York on Monday.

"No one questions the fact that North Korea's nuclear missile program is unacceptable," Nebenzya said.

"However, what can one hope for when Pyongyang is called on to implement all of the conditions set for it unconditionally under the guarantee of absolutely unsubstantiated pledges?" he said.

"The world already had the opportunity to see the price [of promises] with its own eyes in May, when the current U.S. administration, under the pretext that the agreements reached by their predecessors under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action [for the settlement of the Iranian nuclear problem] were bad, unilaterally withdrew from them," Nebenzya said.

"Thus, not only the pledges given to Tehran, but also those given to the international community were broken," he said.
