ASTANA. Sept 18 (Interfax) - All of the sides interested in the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula ought to remain patient, Kazakhstan's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Kairat Umarov said at a UN Security Council special meeting.
"We call on all sides to stay patient and double their resolve and political will to successfully promote the common cause to achieve the nuclear-free status of the Korean Peninsula," the Kazakh Foreign Ministry's press service on Tuesday quoted Umarov as saying at the meeting.
Umarov also reaffirmed the need to solve all problems related to weapons of mass destruction through the implementation of confidence-building measures between Russia, the United States and China.
"The situation on the Korean Peninsula is far more favorable today than ever, which prompts us to focus on the further manifestation of goodwill, openness and mutual concessions," the diplomat said.
