KYIV. Oct 4 (Interfax) - The Hungarian Foreign Ministry has given a Ukrainian consul 72 hours to leave Hungarian territory in response to Kyiv's expulsion of a Hungarian consul, according to the Hungarian site hvg.hu.
"Ukraine is continuing to worsen the conflict," the publication quoted Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto as saying at a press conference in Budapest on Thursday.
"The Ukrainian ambassador in Budapest has been informed that one of the consuls working here must leave Hungary within 72 hours, and this is a proportionate response," he said.
Earlier on Thursday, Ukraine delivered a note to Hungarian Ambassador in Kyiv Erno Keskeny declaring the Hungarian consul in Berehove in the Zakarpattia (Transcarpathia) region of Ukraine persona non grata and demanding that he leave Ukraine within 72 hours.
