NEW YORK. Oct 17 (Interfax) - Russian Permanent Representative to the United Nations Vasily Nebenzya called on Western countries on Wednesday to take away the employees of the non-governmental organization White Helmets from Syria as soon as possible and wished them to successfully integrate into the Western community.
"Some of the White Helmets employees have been evacuated from Syria, but not all Western patrons are in a hurry to take away their charges after analyzing their personal records," Nebenzya said at a UN Security Council session.
"The White Helmets pose a threat to security of regional states, and so we ask you: take them away as soon as possible. All of them. We wish them success in their integration into democratic society," he said.
The White Helmets identify themselves as a volunteer humanitarian organization providing assistance to victims in Syria. Damascus is confident, however, that some countries have used this NGO for informational warfare purposes.
