First launch of Angara A5V heavy rocket may take place in mid-2027 - Khrunichev Center

MOSCOW. Oct 25 (Interfax) - The Khrunichev Space Research and Production Center has promised to build the Angara A5V, the first heavy rocket with an oxygen/hydrogen booster, as early as 2026, the press service of the Moscow-based producer of space-launch systems told Interfax.

"If Roscosmos agrees with our proposals and no adjustments are made to the existing funding schedule, I believe that we will be able to build the first navigable sample of the Angara A5V heavy rocket by the end of 2026 and plan the first launch for the middle of 2027," Khrunichev's press service quoted Sergei Kuznetsov, the general designer at the Salyut Design Bureau, as saying.
