Military to practice deployment of Iskander-M systems near Kaliningrad

MOSCOW. Nov 14 (Interfax-AVN) - The Russian military will hold a tactical drill in the Kaliningrad region on November 14 to practice the deployment of Iskander-M short-range ballistic missile systems, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.

"The servicemen will practice the algorithm of actions in the deployment of missile systems, the relocation to firing positions, and preparations for combat launches," the statement said.

The servicemen will be using control and technical support systems, practicing the operation of launchers and transporters/loaders, and perform simulated missile launches at various targets, it said.

The arming of the 152nd Guard Missile Brigade stationed in Chernyakhovsk in the Kaliningrad region with Iskander-M missile systems was reported in May. The brigade is part of the 11th Army Corps of the Russian Baltic Fleet.
