MOSCOW. Nov 16 (Interfax-AVN) - The crews of the Black Sea Fleet's Admiral Makarov and Admiral Essen frigates have held a set of drills involving the ship-based aircraft in the Mediterranean Sea, spokesman of the Black Sea Fleet Capt. 2nd Rank Aleksei Rulyov said.
"In accordance with the combat training plan the crews of the Admiral Makarov and Admiral Essen frigates, which are performing missions as part of the Russian Navy's permanent taskforce in the Mediterranean Sea, have conducted a host of scheduled drills together with the crews of Kamov Ka-27PS and Ka-27PL ship-based helicopters," Rulyov said.
Pilots in interaction with the crews of the frigates drilled takeoffs and landings on the deck both of moving and drifting ships at sea. A total of about 30 takeoffs and landings on the decks have been performed.
"Exercises involving the search for and tracking of a submarine, and efforts to search for, save, and provide medical aid to people, who fell overboard, were also held," the spokesman said.
At the same time, the crews of ship-based helicopters have conducted drills involving an inspection of efficiency of the operation of all the onboard avionics of ship-based aircraft.
The Admiral Makarov and Admiral Essen frigates are armed with Kalibr cruise missiles. The latter frigate has carried out numerous strikes on the militant positions in Syria.
