Russian Airborne Forces to be reinforced by army aircraft, air defense, missile defense units - Russian military

MOSCOW. Nov 16 (Interfax-AVN) - The army aviation, air defense and missile defense units will join the Airborne Forces, Deputy Commander of the Russian Airborne Forces Lieut. Gen. Alexander Vyaznikov said.

"In the future the ground component will be reinforced by formations, which will include army aviation, air defense and missile defense units, which possess integrated capacity to defeat the enemy," Vyaznikov said at a meeting with military attaches on Friday.

The army aviation was incorporated in the Russian Aerospace Forces. The Air Defense and Missile Defense Troops will join the Russian Aerospace Forces, too. Army air-defense units are included in the Ground Troops and can accomplish individual air defense missions.

"Forecasted and current dangers and threats to Russian military security are becoming complex, and are affecting political, military, economic, information and other vitally important spheres of the activity of the state," the deputy commander said.

"The Russian Armed Forces are developing their mobile component to thwart theoretical threats," he said.
