GROZNY. Nov 19 (Interfax) - A young woman blew herself up outside a police checkpoint in Grozny without injuring police or civilians.
"On Saturday evening an unknown young woman staged a self-explosion on the outskirts of Grozny," Chechen Acting Interior Minister Apti Alaudinov told reporters.
At around 4 p.m. "the young woman approached federal police post number 21 in Grozny's Staropromyslovsky district. Having noticed her inadequate behavior, the on-duty temporarily-assigned and local police officers asked her to stop and produce her ID. Without complying with this order, the woman dashed towards the post and at that point the police officers noticed an improvised explosive device on her. A warning shot was fired at that point. The young woman staged a self-explosion," Alaudinov said.
There were no casualties because the criminal was prevented from coming near the police officers, he said.
