Tajik Foreign Ministry hopes for more EU help in guarding border with Afghanistan

DUSHANBE. Nov 23 (Interfax) - Tajikistan hopes for greater assistance from the European Union to help guard the Tajik-Afghan border and counter drug smuggling, Tajik Foreign Minister Sirodjiddin Muhriddin said at a meeting with High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini in Brussels.

Dushanbe hopes for the effective implementation of joint socio-economic projects under the new EU strategy for Central Asia and the next multi-year program of interaction between Tajikistan and the EU, the Tajik Foreign Ministry said.

The talks took place as part of a Tajik delegation's participation in a meeting of the foreign ministers of the countries of Central Asia and the EU.
