Russia not to allow U.S. to drive wedge between Moscow, Beijing - Ryabkov

MOSCOW. Nov 26 (Interfax) - The threat the United States could pose in the Asia-Pacific Region in the event of the termination of the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty would present common challenges to Moscow and Beijing, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said.

"It's hard to overlook the obsession with which Washington is entangling the so-called Chinese factor with the INF Treaty. These clumsy attempts to drive a wedge between Russia and China are visible to the naked eye. Of course we won't allow this," Ryabkov said at a news briefing on Monday.

"Washington's potential flexing of muscles in this region after the elimination of the INF Treaty's restrictions would pose challenges common in many respects to our countries," he said.
