Ukrainian Security Council instructs Defense Ministry, General Staff to declare partial mobilization (Part 2)

KYIV. Nov 26 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council has instructed the Defense Ministry and the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to update the Mobilization Plan with regard to the number of first-phase reservists to be called up and to provide for partial mobilization measures.

The instructions are part of the Resolution of the National Security and Defense Council of November 26, 2018 on Extraordinary Measures to Ensure the State Sovereignty and Independence of Ukraine and to Declare Martial Law in Ukraine, which President Petro Poroshenko enacted by signing a relevant executive order earlier today.

The order will take effect simultaneously with legislation endorsing it.

"The Ukrainian Defense Ministry and the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces shall immediately update the Mobilization Plan of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in due course, particularly the number of first-phase reservists to be called up," the resolution reads.

The General Staff has also been instructed to submit proposals to the president on enacting documents regarding the use of the armed forces and other military units.

The General Staff has also been charged with "providing for partial mobilization measures and organizing and conducting training camps with a sufficient number of reservists from the tactical reserve."

The National Security and Defense Council also instructed the General Staff to submit proposals on involving other military units and law enforcement agencies in enforcing legal regulations related to martial law.
