MOSOCW. Nov 26 (Interfax) - By imposing martial law the government in Kyiv is hoping to resolve its own political problems, including those relating to the forthcoming presidential election, Russian Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin said.
"Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko signed a decree introducing martial law across the country. And now Verkhovna Rada is discussing it and will possibly approve it as a law," Volodin told reporters on Monday.
"Basically, a foundation is being laid for rescheduling the 2019 elections and restricting voters' rights. This is exactly what Poroshenko organized the Kerch Strait provocation for," Volodin said.
