Crimean speaker not ruling out Ukrainian provocations on land

SIMFEROPOL. Nov 26 (Interfax) - Having been repelled by Russia in the sea, Ukraine could attempt provocations on its land border with Crimea, Vladimir Konstantinov, speaker of Crimean parliament, said.

"There were, are and will be provocations... Ukraine may not have a fleet as such. A couple of ships, maybe. I tried to make enquiries about how many ships in total they have. No one can answer this question properly. Apparently, this resource is being exhausted. We will be expecting land border provocations since they cannot swim up to us," Konstantinov told reporters on Monday evening.

Crimea also may have to take in refugees from Ukraine, given the situation in that country, he said. "Our people, our nation, we are bound by kinship, one culture, one mentality... When they come pouring in - this could happen any moment, this won't be easy of course - we need to get ready for it," Konstantinov said.
