Rada introduces 30-day martial law in number of Ukrainian regions

MOSCOW. Nov 27 (Interfax) - The Verkhovna Rada has approved the introduction of a 30-day martial law in a number of Ukrainian regions that was earlier declared by a decree of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko.

A total of 276 members of Ukrainian parliament supported the decision at an extraordinary session on Monday, an Interfax correspondent reported.

The martial law will take effect in the Vinnytsia, Luhansk, Mykolaiv, Sumy, Odesa, Kharkiv, Chernihiv and Kherson regions, as well as "internal water of the Azov-Kerch maritime region," Poroshenko said prior to the voting.

Meanwhile, reading the list of regions where the martial law will take effect, Rada speaker Andriy Parubiy mentioned Donetsk and Zaporizhia regions in addition to the aforementioned ones.
