Ukraine doesn't file request for passage of naval ships through Kerch Strait in line with established procedure - FSB

MOSCOW. Nov 27 (Interfax) - Kyiv has not notified Russia about the passage of Ukrainian naval ships through the Kerch Strait in line with established procedure, the Russian Federal Security Service's Public Relations Center said in a statement seen by Interfax.

"The Ukrainian Navy's ships, namely, the support vessel Horlivka (board number U-753), and the sea tugboat Yany Kapu (board number A-947), which were heading northeastwards toward the Kerch Strait, were detected and identified at 4:40 p.m. on November 24 in the Russian exclusive economic zone, 28-30 nautical miles southeast of Cape Meganom, by the forces and means of the Russian Federal Security Service's Border Service department for the Russian Republic of Crimea," the statement reads.

"When a group of Ukrainian naval ships was approaching the Russian state border, [Russian coastguard boat] the pska-302 at 9:30 p.m. informed them of the procedure of crossing the Russian state border and the navigation rules through the Kerch-Yenikale Canal, which envisages filing a request with the Maritime Administration of the port of Kerch 48, 24 hours in advance and confirming it four hours in advance, that has not been done by the Ukrainian naval ships," it said.
