SIMFEROPOL. Nov 27 (Interfax) - Martial law declared by Ukraine after the incident in the Kerch Strait does not pose a risk to the security of Crimea, according to Crimea head Sergei Aksyonov.
"I am sure in the territory of the Republic of Crimea [...] there are enough forces and hardware to ensure security: Crimea is protected and turned into an impregnable fortress, just like to the rest of the country, and no one is allowed to violate the Russian border. This entails a criminal penalty," Aksyonov's press service quoted his words on Tuesday.
In the evening of November 26, the Verkhovna Rada endorsed President Petro Poroshenko's order declaring martial law consistent with the decision of the National Security and Defense Council. Martial law was declared in ten regions of the country for a period of 30 days. Also, the Ukrainian parliament scheduled the next presidential election for March 31, 2019.
