MOSCOW. Nov 27 (Interfax) - Russia has tightened security in the Kerch Strait amid the situation in Ukraine and threats against the Kerch Bridge, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said in Vladimir Solovyov's program aired by the television channel Rossiya 1 (VGTRK).
The Ukrainian government does not control the domestic situation, "the radicals are in charge, and appeals for terrorist activity inside and outside Ukraine are constantly being made," Zakharova said.
"This is why Russia has tightened security, especially in the light for appeals for destroying, blowing up, and so on made in regard to the Kerch Bridge. This is not a whim but a norm of civilized behavior, including one towards Ukraine," she said.
In her opinion, what ships of the Ukrainian Navy did in the Kerch Strait last Sunday was a premeditated action.
"This is a planned, plotted, and implemented provocation. It's a large-scale provocation that includes an information component, prepared and spread information, a component of force, the threat to use force, and the engagement of diplomatic and international legal resources," Zakharova said.
The fact that ships of the Ukrainian Navy had their guns uncovered and did not respond to Russia's attempt to establish contact "end any search for an excuse for the Ukrainian side with references to international law," she said.
Zakharova regretted that the UN Security Council had refused to process Russia's request for discussing the incident in the Kerch Strait.
