Peskov: Martial law is Ukraine's internal affair, but consequences cause for concern, including in Donbas

MOSCOW. Nov 27 (Interfax) - The declaration of martial law in some regions in Ukraine is that country's internal affair, but given the upcoming election, it has a "special and hardly disguised tint," Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said.

"This is Ukraine's internal affair, but, certainly, against the background of the electoral process, such a step as the declaration of martial law, let's put it this way, definitely has a special and hardly disguised tint," Peskov told journalists on Tuesday.

"Potentially, the introduction of martial law in a number of regions could create the threat of escalating tensions in the conflict area, I mean the southeastern part" of Ukraine, he said.
