TBILISI. Nov 27 (Interfax) - Georgian Defense Minister Levan Izoria and German Defense Minister Ursula von der Leyen have signed the two countries' first-ever agreement on military cooperation, the Georgian Defense Ministry's press service said on Tuesday.
Izoria, who is currently in Germany, said that this agreement sets forth the priorities of the two countries' cooperation in defense and security and outlines avenues of interaction in support of Georgia's accession to NATO.
Germany will continue to back NATO's open-door policy toward Georgia and stands ready to provide maximum support to Georgia's process of integrating into the alliance, the Georgian minister said.
Izoria has also met with Inspector General of the German Armed Forces Lt. Gen. Eberhard Zorn and Chairman of the Bundestag Defense Committee Wolfgang Hellmich, the press service said.
