MOSCOW. Nov 27 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in a telephone conversation with his German counterpart Heiko Maas on Tuesday discussed the Kerch Strait incident.
"Further to the telephone conversation that Russian President Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Angela Merkel had yesterday, the sides discussed events provoked by the ships of Ukrainian Navy that illegally crossed the Russian border in the Kerch Strait on November 25," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on its website.
"Based on facts, the Russian side highlighted that the provocative actions were planned by the Ukrainian authorities in defiance of international legal rules. Kyiv knowingly created threats and risks for the safe traffic of vessels in the Black Sea, for the lives of crewmembers aboard the ships of the Ukrainian Navy," the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
The German side "was urged to influence the Ukrainian leadership in terms of preventing further provocations motivated by domestic politics," it said.
