MOSCOW. Nov 28 (Interfax) - Russian border guards have found 30mm guns, grenade launchers, several machineguns and other weapons on board the Ukrainian boats earlier seized in the Kerch Strait, the press service of Russia's FSB told Interfax.
"The following weapons and munitions were present on board the ships of the Ukrainian Navy: four 30mm guns, four automatic grenade launchers AGS-17; two 12.7mm DShK machineguns, and four 7.62mm PKT machineguns," the FSB said.
According to the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB), there were 13 AK-47 assault rifles, four Makarov pistols, a traumatic pistol, a signal pistol PS, 765 30mm artillery shells, more than 100 grenades, rounds and cartridges, on board the vessels.
Russian border guards used weapons to stop three Ukrainian naval vessels in the Kerch Strait area on November 25. The vessels in question - the tug Yany Kapu and the armored gunboats Berdyansk and Nikopol - were on their way from Odesa through the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov to Mariupol. Twenty-four Ukrainians were detained, three of whom were wounded. The Ukrainian vessels were escorted to Kerch. Each side accused the other of an act of provocation.
The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) has opened a criminal case over illegal border crossing.
