Share of modern weapons, hardware in Russia's Southern Military District reaches 65% - commander

MOSCOW. Nov 28 (Interfax) - The share of modern weapons and military hardware in Russia's Southern Military District has reached 65%, District Commander Col. Gen. Alexander Dvornikov told the Defense Ministry's newspaper Krasnaya Zvezda on Wednesday.

"About 1,700 graduates of military schools joined the forces of the district this year. The expertise and professional skills of contract servicemen are primarily needed for operating new weapons and military hardware, whose share in the district has grown to 65%," Dvornikov said.

More than 600 modern weapons and pieces of military and special hardware, including about 150 armored vehicles, more than 100 motor vehicles, and over 150 missile-and-artillery systems, have been supplied to services and branches of the district this year, he said.

"The district's naval group received three ships and two support vessels," Dvornikov said.
