Some 7.5 mln Syrians fled to Turkey, Jordan, Lebanon; over 50,000 returned from Lebanon, Jordan - Lavrentyev

ASTANA. Nov 28 (Interfax) - There are 3.5 million Syrian refugees in Turkey, 2.5 million in Jordan and 1.5 million in Lebanon, the Russian president's special representative for Syria Alexander Lavrentyev said

"Currently there are around 3.5 million refugees in Turkey, around 2.5 million in Jordan and about 1.5 million refugees are remaining in Lebanon. They need to be provided with all conditions for a dignified and - as we say - voluntary return to their homes," Lavrentyev told a press conference after the first day of the Astana-11 meeting in the Kazakh capital on Wednesday.

Over 27,000 Syrians have returned from Lebanon and up to 25,000 from Jordan, he said.

"By now, over 27,000 refugees have returned to their homes from Lebanon. Whereas only a month ago returning refugees from Jordan numbered between 1,000 and 1,500 people, now their number has equalized with that of returning refugees from Lebonon, i.e. one could talk about 24,000-25,000," Lavrentyev said.
