MOSCOW. Nov 28 (Interfax-AVN) - Russian intelligence units have obtained information about the plans of militants of the ISIL terrorist group banned in Russia to use chemical munitions against U.S.-backed Kurdish forces, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Thursday.
"Manufactured chemical munitions are intended for shelling positions of U.S.-backed Kurdish Syrian Democratic Forces, which are carrying out hostilities against terrorists in the area of Hadjin in the Deir ez-Zor governorate," the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.
"The Syrian Democratic Forces' positions should be shelled by ISIL militants from the direction, where nearby Syrian pro-governmental forces are deployed, seeking to provoke U.S.' mass airstrikes on them," the Russian Defense Ministry said.
Through several intelligence channels the information was confirmed that in the Syrian populated locality of el-Kishma in the Deir ez-Zor governorate ISIL militants have set up the manufacturing facility of improvised mortar shells to fill them with chemical warfare agents, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
"Eleven terrorists, who were came to Syria after proper training abroad, are filling shells with toxic agents," the Defense Ministry said.
