MOSCOW. Nov 29 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia is starting to use an automated system in Crimea to monitor the situation at sea while guarding the sea borders, an informed source told Interfax.
"For the purpose of guarding the borders in this district a task has been set to put into operation and use a Rubezh automated technical control system. This work is now ongoing," the source said.
It is a new system, which has never been used in Crimea before, he said.
According to open-source data, information to this system is transmitted from autonomous radar posts. Each such post can track up to 200 targets, determine their coordinates and movement parameters, and also escort them, using optoelectronic systems.
Interfax does not have official confirmation of this report.
