MOSCOW. Nov 29 (Interfax) - Three people suspected of belonging to an extremist religious organization that was planning to murder law enforcement officials and businesspeople have been killed in Kabardino-Balkaria, the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) told Interfax on Thursday.
"The FSB, acting in collaboration with police in the Mai district of Kabardino-Balkaria, has suppressed the activities of members of an extremist religious cell planning to kill employees of law enforcement agencies and major businesspeople in Kabardino-Balkaria," the FSB said.
"During an attempt to detain them, the gunmen offered armed resistance. Three criminals sustained fatal injuries in an armed clash, and one was detained," it said.
Weapons were seized at the scene, it said.
