CHISINAU. Nov 29 (Interfax) - Moldovan President Igor Dodon has expressed support for continuing dialogue with the European Union in various fields of mutual interest while keeping Moldova a neutral country.
Dodon wrote on Facebook that he had met with the head of the European Union Delegation to Moldova, Peter Michalko, on Thursday.
"In the context of domestic policy, we talked about the parliamentary elections planned for February 24, 2019. At the same time, we touched on the process of negotiations to settle the problem of Transdniestria. I explained details of the presidential strategy for a balanced foreign policy of the Republic of Moldova, which is in favor of mutually beneficial partnerships with countries of the West and the East on the basis of the constitutional principle of permanent neutrality," Dodon wrote.
He added that he had discussed similar matters with new U.S. Ambassador to Moldova Derek Hogan on Wednesday.
