MOSCOW. Nov 30 (Interfax-AVN) - The average rate of failed Roscosmos missions fell from 8.1% in 2014 to 4.8% in 2017, the corporation said in its report for 2017.
"An analysis of the country's space launch failures in the past three years shows that the average rate of accidents has been on the decline. The indicator stood at 8.1% in 2014 (three accidents for 37 launches), 6.9% in 2015 (two accidents for 29 launches), 5.3% in 2016 (one accident for 19 launches), and 4.8% in 2017," the report said.
Only one of Russia's 21 space launches in 2017 failed.
"An analysis of statistical data indicates that the integrated index of faulty launch vehicles in the total number of missions (running total) is 5.29% for Russia, which is generally comparable to the global average (3.1% for the EU, 4.25% for China, and 5.56% for the United States)," the corporation said.
