Armenia to retain alliance with Russia - Pashinyan

YEREVAN. Nov 30 (Interfax) - Armenia's acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said on Friday that his country will continue strengthening relations with Russia.

"Relations between our countries must remain a strategic alliance. We will continue to pursue this line. But the phrase 'strategic alliance' should take on new meaning every year. We shouldn't hope this phrase will retain its meaning all by itself. This is hard work. And the government of Armenia is prepared to do this work in order to raise Armenian-Russian relations to a new level," Pashinyan said at a pre-election rally in the city of Abovyan.

He stressed the need to develop Armenia's alliance with Russia.

"We welcome all platforms aimed at Armenian-Russian dialogue. This isn't just high-level contacts. I don't talk to leaders of other countries as often as I talk to the Russian president, but communication must continue at every level. We must take the military-technical, military-political, humanitarian, economic, cultural, and political cooperation between our countries to a new level," Pashinyan said.

Armenia is holding early parliamentary elections on December 9.
