MOSCOW. Nov 30 (Interfax) - The Russian Defense Ministry said it expects that the United States will not realize its declared intention to withdraw from the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty (INF Treaty) and said it would do all it could so that this does not happen.
"As concerns the U.S. declared intention to withdraw from the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty, we would like this eventually to remain only an intention and not to be realized. We hope this will not happen. And we are doing all we can for this at all forums," Russian Deputy Defense Minister Col. Gen. Alexander Fomin said on Friday.
The questions that the two countries have for each other regarding the implementation of the treaty are well known, but Russia has never been provided with any evidence proving that it might have somehow violated the treaty, he said.
