Russia continuing military interaction with West, including on Syria - deputy defense minister (Part 2)

MOSCOW. Nov 30 (Interfax-AVN) - The Russian Defense Ministry continues working with European countries and the United States on matters of mutual practical interest, Deputy Defense Minister Col. Gen. Alexander Fomin said.

"There is ongoing active dialogue on Syria, military incident prevention, regional and international security problems, and war memorials. Planned events are carried out as part of implementation of the international agreements on arms control," Fomin told journalists on Friday.

"Against the backdrop of a certain degradation of military ties in Europe, over the past three years [Russia] has signed agreements on military cooperation with 20 countries in the Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific Region and Latin America.

"Today we have legally binding documents with 75 countries, which provides for the possibility to advance Russian interests in the regions.

"The interaction covers a wide spectrum of issues from joint military drills to specialist training and staff negotiations to delegation exchange," Fomin said.
